Delaware Teen Idol Finals

Who: The Delaware Teen Idol Finals is a family event for children and parents. AIDS Delaware encourages fathers to attend this event with their family.

What: The 5th Annual “Who wants to be a Delaware Teen Idol FINALS”

Throughout the summer youth have auditioned at various locations in the City of Wilmington displaying their creative talents. Our goal with this project is to:
......• Increase awareness among youth about the various issues taking place
......• Encourage safer behaviors
......• Have individuals seek HIV counseling and testing early
......• Promote positive messages among youth through creative expressions

The finalists consist of 17 youth singers, rappers, and poets displaying their talents in one of the seven Wilmington Health Planning Councils prioritized health initiatives (Healthy Wilmington 2010): Access to Preventive Health Care, Chronic Disease Prevention: Early Detection, HIV/AIDS, Mental Health, Responsible Sexual Behavior: Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Substance Abuse, and Violence Prevention.

The Teen Idol guest judges include: Phil Andrews and Bill Wilmore (WHYY Channel 12), Cacia Batts (2009 Mrs. Delaware America), Ashley Biden (daughter of Vice-President Joe Biden), Darius Brown (representative from Senator Ted Kaufman’s office), Brayonna Muhammad (2008 Delaware Teen Idol first place winner), and “Grouchy Greg” Watkins (co-founder of http://allhiphop.com/, the largest hip-hop website in the world.

Event Starts at 6:00 pm

How (to purchase tickets): Tickets are on sale now at AIDS Delaware and DuPont Theatre Box Office. Tickets are also available for purchased at the door the day of the show.
There are NO reserved or assigned seats. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis.

Cost: $5.00 per ticket
